I woke up. Another day of hunting. Before you ask, no, it is not regular hunting. I am a galactic bounty hunter, hunting the most dangerous of prey. From galactic senators to the worst scumbags in the galaxy, I will slay just about anything for the right price. I walk over to my closet. What seems like a regular closet is actually covering up my high-tech [[armory]]
[[About the story]]
I sling my rifle over my shoulder. This rifle has bagged me a fair share of hunts, and many of my clients are overjoyed just seeing this weapon in my hands. I grab two blaster pistols and place them in my hip holsters. I grab plenty of grenades and thermal detonaters and carefully place them on my utility belt. To be as good of a marksmen as me, you are gonna want to have several kinds of bullets too. What's the point of this? Just killing your prey seems pretty boring, and regular bullets sometimes won't work on certain species. If you're dealing with an inhabitant from one of the ice planets, like Freezron, then it comes in handy to have flame bullets that burst into flames on impact. Want to cool something down or freeze in it's tracks? Ice bullets will do the job in no time. I walk over my [[holocron projector]] to see what missions are up for grabs today
Made of a highly durable and concentrated steel, these swords are capable of slicing through even the toughest metals. I have carved up lots of corpses with the help of these two. I sheath the swords over my back and head over to the [[Pub]] to see if there are any available messages today
I start putting the exosuit on. I never get tired of wearing this armor. Forged long ago by a highly intelligent race in a far off world. The suit is equipped with many different features. The [[jetpack]], my [[blaster gauntlets]] and many more special features. I put the suit on and slide my helmet onto my head. Time to head to the [[hangar]] and board my ship for the next mission.
The holocron projector is just one way I can find new assignments. I could have visited the pub, but this way I don't have to deal with the vermin screeching in my ear.
Okay, lemme see what we've got for today. The only mission posted on the projector is to.... assassinate a kid.
Damn it. I know this kid probably deserved it if he is on the list, but this is sick. Never the less, I decide to accept it, the client has posted a pretty high bounty.
I head to my ship and set off to... hold up. The location is the exact same planet I'm on right now?!? In a scum hole called [[Lager City]]The jetpack is a central point in the exosuit. It grants me access to traveling through the air without my ship, and it makes pursuing my bounties much easier, considering most of the slimeballs don't have the common sense to get in a speeder. The gauntlets in my suit have many different capabilities, depending on what I need. The monitor controls which compartment is activated in the gauntlet. From grappling hooks to heat seeking missiles to general blasters, these gauntlets are essential. While I am also very dependent on my swords, my gauntlets also house smaller versions of these blades, for when I need to fight in close quarters rather than with a blaster. The way to tell a top-tier bounty hunter from the rest of the riff-raff is by looking at his ship. And my ship fits under that category.
She is an absolute beauty, unlike any other spaceship in the galaxy. Forget that ship that made the Kessel run in what was it... 12 parsecs? PLEASE. My baby could do it in half that time!
Ahem.. Anyway. My ship is equipped with the latest technology. Heat seeking sonar, permitting me to trace certain temperatures. It also is able travel underwater, making my prey that live in underwater worlds much easier to pursue.
I sat down on the cockpit of my ship to check the [[logbook]] to see what my next mission will be.The Bon Varma pub in the Vorona system is one of the most brutal in the galaxy. Give one guy the wrong eye and you will start the biggest fight you have ever been in.
All around are different species of scumbags and lowlifes.
All the way in the back of the pub is Jhon Volkar, a man I have known almost my entire life. I could tell that this life was starting to age him pretty harshly. His black hair was starting to fade into a light grey, his beard following this same path. His dark skin started to form wrinkles, and his eyes seemed hollow, as if there were no light shining within them.
"What's the mission for the day old man?" I asked him sarcastically. He just gave me this long sigh and handed me a [[holo-chip]]I stepped inside and looked around. There are dozens of different things inside. I contemplated what I should use for today's missions. There are days when I decide to use a combination of tools, but I think today I am going to stick with one theme or the other. I glance over at my [[rifle]] and other blasters and grenades. Maybe today is a long range sort of day. In the other corner were my [[swords]] and other close range weapons. Maybe some poor sap is going to be mincemeat today. Last but certainly not least, in the very back of the armory on it's own level entirely, is my [[exosuit]] My logbook shows me all of the missions that are posted for potential bounty hunters to snag for a chance at wealth and glory.
In my case, it's all about the money. I have my reasons, but I need to earn five-hundred million credits in the next two years.
If you're not familiar with galactic currency, five-hundred million credits is a LOT of money.
As I scrolled through the list, I found a mission that will prove to be both challenging and fun: A rescue trip into the [[Nexus Void]]The Nexus Void is one of the most dangerous places in the galaxy. So don't ask me why some idiot senator's ten year old son managed to find his way off of his father's ship and into the Void.
Now if it were any other bounty hunter, the answer would most certainly be a hard ass no. However, me being the softy that I am, cannot just abandon someone so young, especially in the most dangerous area of the galaxy.
So, I headed into the scumhole that is the Nexus Void. As I flew around, I couldn't even decide how this kid even managed to wind up here on accident.
Imagine a blackhole that managed to suck up an enormous jigsaw puzzle and then scatter the pieces. That's essentially what the Nexus Void was like.
No matter where I looked, I couldn't see any signs of lifeforms on my sonars. Then I picked up something bizzare. There was a ship just up ahead, but there was a massive crater in the side of it. It appeared to be an [[Abandoned Ship]]The holo-chip is basically like a small version of my holocron projector back at my base. On this particular one, it shows the picture of a troubled looking girl
"Cute broad, what's the point?" I said to him
"The point, you condescending fool, is that this is one of the most important people in the entire galaxy. Her name is Miria Oonada. She is the daughter of a very powerful man. You will recognize him as the leader of the banking clans"
I have never snapped to attention faster in my entire life. The banking clans are exactly what they sound like. They are basically like real life piggy banks. If I could get an in with these guys, I would be swimming in credits. This is what I needed to do. It was time.
I accepted the job, and Jhon gave me the coordinates to the planet where I could find the banking clan. I hopped into my ship and headed to the planet [[Omagada]]. The planet of Omagada is the richest planet in the galaxy. I mean I would hope so, being that their inhabitants are the forerunners of the banking clans. As I flew in, I saw a few guards standing at the front gates. I landed my ship and walked up to the soldiers. One of them wanted to guide me into the main chambers to speak with the [[high chancellor]] of Omagada. The other wanted me to follow him down a rather shifty [[corridor]]I parked the ship close to the hole of the ship, put my helmet on and flew over on my jetpack to get a closer look.
As I walked through the rusty and abandoned ship, I couldn't help but shake this odd feeling. I was not alone on this ship. I kept walking around, looking for any signs of life. As I was turning a corner, I finally realized what I was dealing with. It wasn't until I turned that corner, and smelled the awful stench of raw flesh and blood. As I rounded that corridor, I saw the beast, a [[Rathgar]]Rathgars were the nastiest beasts in the galaxy. Think of giant squids that could walk on land and fly through space and had rows upon rows of razor sharp teeth. I should have known from the shape of the hole in the ship that it was a Rathgar. No wonder nobody else wanted this mission.
Behind the rathgar, I noticed a small shape shaking like a leaf. Great. Just what I wanted. The damn kid was still alive.
Now that the kid just HAD to survive, I only had two options. I could [[save the kid]] and collect my reward, or I could [[run for the hills]], because fighting a rathgar is not an easy accomplishment.
Damn it! Me and my big heart! I grab one of my thermal detonators and toss it at the beast.
Rathgars are naturally stupid creatures. The big lug saw the detonator coming and tried to eat the damn thing. The detonator exploded, but unfortunately these bastards have stomachs of steel. So not only did the blast not affect him, it royally pissed him off.
On the bright side, he completely forgot about the kid. I signaled at him to run, and pointed in the direction of my ship. For being a kid, he was a lot smarter than I would've given him credit for. He bolted for the ship and I took a [[detour]] of sortsSee ya later sucka!!
I am not risking my own skin for something like this, no amount of money is worth fighting one of the most dangerous abominations in the entire galaxy!!
Call me a coward if you want, but I am looking out for number one, man.
What? You don't like my story? Well fine then go back to [[The Beginning]] and hear about one of my better stories where I wasn't such a pansy, see if I care!I slid into the corridor leading back to the hole in the ship, the roar of the rathgar echoing through the halls.
Ah, there she is. The kid was already in the ship, tears of fear running down his face. I hopped in and we zoomed away.
"Alright kid," I said to him, trying my best not to be too demanding but also wanting to know why the hell he thought this would be a good place to chill.
"You've got some explaining to do. Your old man has been looking everywhere for you, and hired me to come and collect you."
"Yeah, well, thanks for saving me, but you can just drop me off anywhere but my homeworld." I slammed on the breaks, hurling the kid toward the front of the ship.
"Pardon me, but what was that, ya little twerp?"
"My father doesn't love me. He just wants me to keep on his good name and have kids to keep the family line alive."
I could relate to this kid, but I had to get him back in one piece to retrieve my bounty.
At this point I have two options, [[Return the kid]] and get my reward, or [[improvise]] and use my brilliant mindWell, it sucks, but there is not much else I can do.
I drop off the kid, I got my credits, I am WAY richer than I once was.
I know what you are thinking, I am a scumbag for taking that kid back to such a bad home, but hear me out. I needed these credits. If I want to save a certain... person in my life, I need to make my quota within two more years or she....
AHEM! Anyway, if you would rather listen to a better tale, go ahead and jump back to [[The Beginning]], my adventures never cease. I flew the kid home. The great senator met me at the hangar bay, smiling ear to ear.
"Oh thank you so so much!" I never thought I would see my boy again!" He seemed to be sincere, but out of the corner of my eye I saw the glare he gave the kid. The senator invited me to stay for dinner. Afterwards I got back on my ship and flew off.
I was a few lightyears away before I put the ship on auto-pilot back to my base and went to my quarters. "Okay kid, it's safe to come out."
The kid popped out of the closet in my quarters, grinning ear to ear.
"He bought it?" He asked in disbelief.
"He never even thought of the possibility of me using a decoy droid. You're safe and sound with me, but we are going to have to make it look like you died." Luckily I had one of my assassin friends go back to the planet later that day and shoot the "kid" in the head. What? I never said I was a nice guy. Now the kid can be free, and I get the apprentice I never wanted. What fun!
Well, if you liked this short, exciting tale of mine, go ahead and go back to [[The Beginning]], I've got plenty more! This is an interactive story about a bounty hunter who's name and origin is unknown. Depending on what weapon he chooses for his mission, the mission will change. You get to decide on some missions whether or not he makes the moral decision or selfish decision.
These are the choices bounty hunters must make. What will you decide? The High Chancellor was a stuffy guy, but you could tell he was pretty stressful. He informs me that his daughter is still somewhere on the planet, and that the kidnappers have not yet left with her. I decided to get started right away searching, and I found a rather shifty guy, I cornered him and asked him what he was doing.
When asked what you are doing, running is NEVER a good response. It ends with a badass bounty hunter throwing a sword straight into your back. I slid my sword out of my prey and gave him a good search. In his one pocket I found something that just maybe could help my search: a [[tracking beacon]] I followed the mysterious soldier down the corridor. When he made sure we were alone he turned to me.
"You the bounty hunter?" What an odd question. What would you think if you saw a guy as big as me carrying a sword that could slice you in half with one swing? Instead of being an asshole, I simply said yes.
"I will make this very simple for you. My followers have his daughter. Miria is in our hands. What do you say? Want to [[join forces]] or are you going to [[be a problem]]?Yeah, screw it. Why not? I'll tell ya why not. It turns out this guy was a spy. He was suspicious of me and decided to try and reveal my true intentions. Before I could even respond I felt a very sharp pain from the back of my head come right through my skull.... oh.... hah..... DEAD Bad guys talk a lot less when you chop their heads off with a steel sword. Of course I'm not going to kidnap the girl! What did you think would happen? I would just join these losers and have to SPLIT the profits? No thank you! When I checked the guys pockets, I found a [[tracking beacon]] that must have led to Miria. It's go time, boys.I followed the signal back to a storage facility on the other side of the planet. There were guards everywhere. Noticed how I said were? Yeah well now there are just dozens of chopped up meat everywhere at that storage facility. God I love my swords.
I walked into the storage unit and saw a girl sitting there. There she was. Miria Oonada. She had long strawberry-blond hair and freckles, she couldn't have been much older than early-twenties. She was shaking as I walked up to her.
"Alright princess, your chariot awaits. Let's get you back to papa in one piece."
"Who... Who are you?" She asked me with fear in her eyes.
"I'm the lucky guy who gets to collect the reward for your safe return. Let's go kiddo." So I picked her up like the gentleman I am and returned her safe and sound to the [[Palace]] Mission complete! Pops was so happy to see his daughter, he gladly forked over the credits and I was one step closer to my goals. Things were coming together quickly.
Well, if you thought this story was fun, you should check out some of my other crazy adventures, head back to [[The Beginning]] I was walking through Lager city, and I was slowly realizing why I try to stay away from this place. Everyone is an up-tight, yuppy city person. I am much more comfortable living in my quiet, remote area far away from this dump on the other side of the planet.
As I was wandering the streets, I saw him. He couldn't have been more than thirteen, yet his bounty is for three-hundred thousand credits... I really contemplated this... Should I [[Head Home]] and just call it quits on this operation? Or should I [[follow the kid]] and see where he's headed.Damn it, I can't do it. Sorry if you guys were expecting a story in which I got hella rich and savored every moment of the kill of a small child. If you want to hear about my more thrilling adventures, head back to [[The Beginning]] Of course I'm gonna follow the kid! Money is money, after all. I followed him and as I did I saw three big brutes come out of no where, all holding giant blasters.
Rather than go charging in, I decided to wait from the top of the water tower. Let us not forget I had my trusty rifle with me. If they so much as pointed their guns in the kids direction, I would rain down holy hell fire upon them. I used my high-tech sonar earplugs to listen in on them from a distance.
"It's over kid. There is already a bounty on your head. Whether you actually stole the money doesn't matter anymore. Mr. Walder has already put you on a platter."
"Whatever you goons! I know I didn't do it, and Walder can suck it!"
Wait... the kid was FRAMED?!
Now what was I supposed to do... To fulfill my own selfish desires I had two options. Either I just [[shoot the kid]] in the skull right now and get my money, or I [[help the kid out]], and take him in as my apprentice.click, click, BOOM!!
Sorry kid, business is business. While the goons are standing down there trying to figure out what just happened, I had an epiphany. These guys would totally try to kill me to, so they could try and collect the bounty themselves. Oh well. Three more corpses for me to dispose of I guess.
I turned the kid's body over to Walder, got my cash, and left this hellish city in the dust.
Oh WHAT? Like you wouldn't kill a kid for that kinda cash? Well, go back to [[The Beginning]] if you want a story that doesn't involve slaughtering children, see if I care!Damn me and my moral beliefs! I popped a cap in each of those idiot goons and swooped down to the kid.
"Who are you?"
"Does it really matter kid? Come with me if you wanna get out of here and not have to worry about these creeps anymore." You would have thought I just told this kid he was the king of the universe, he was ecstatic.
"What about Walder?" He asked, worried that we would surely be followed.
Long story short, I killed Walder, took his money because he's a scumbag who tries to kill kids, and left. I know, I'm such a great story teller, I should totally make a hypertext story depicting all my adventures...
Well don't let me stop you! Plenty more adventures where that came from! Just go back to [[The Beginning]]
